Head of Design – AI Startup

About the role

Social Discovery Group is seeking a Head of Design to lead the user‑experience of its AI‑driven social discovery products. You will own the end‑to‑end journey, from ad creatives to onboarding, avatar selection, chat, media generation and retention loops, ensuring a consistent experience across all touchpoints.

Key responsibilities

• Own the complete product UX, from acquisition assets to retention loops, maintaining consistency across screens.
• Drive product metrics (conversion, retention, LTV) by forming hypotheses, running A/B tests and delivering improvements.
• Define and evolve a unified design system covering UI, UX patterns, visual style, animation and copy.
• Lead and mentor a design team of two product designers, a UX writer and a researcher, establishing processes and cross‑functional collaboration.
• Translate research, user interviews and support insights into roadmap initiatives aligned with business goals.

Required profile

• 3+ years leading a design team of three or more on B2C daily‑use products (AI companions, social, dating, health, edtech, messengers) with 2M+ MAU or $50M+ revenue.
• Demonstrated measurable impact on conversion, retention or LTV with before‑and‑after metrics.
• Strong product design expertise (UX, UI, user flows, IA, prototyping) and confidence in Figma.
• Proven experience with cross‑functional work, A/B testing, prioritisation frameworks (RICE) and data‑driven decisions.
• Excellent visual eye, analytical mindset and English at C1 level or higher.
