Group Promotions Manager – FMCG Retail & Wholesale

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Group Promotions Manager to lead the promotional strategy for a fast‑growing FMCG retail and wholesale group in South Africa. Reporting to the Chief Operations Officer, you will be based at our modern head office on the South Coast and will work closely with buying, marketing, finance and operations teams to drive profitable sales growth across the nationwide store network.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute the annual promotional strategy and calendar for the entire group.
• Plan, coordinate and evaluate promotional campaigns across all stores, ensuring stock availability and product placement.
• Design pricing strategies that boost sales while protecting gross profit margins.
• Monitor gross profit before, during and after promotions and prepare detailed P&L and ROI reports.
• Analyse sales trends, margins and promotional performance to recommend improvements.
• Negotiate supplier promotional funding, rebates and support to maximise commercial value.
• Collaborate with buying, marketing, finance and operations to ensure seamless execution of promotions.
• Produce regular performance reports for executive management and continuously review promotional effectiveness.

Required profile

• Degree or diploma in Commerce, Business Management, Marketing, Finance or a related field.
• Minimum five years’ experience in promotions, category management, pricing or buying within the FMCG retail or wholesale sector.
• Proven track record of developing and delivering successful promotional strategies that generate profitable sales growth.
