Group HR Manager

About the role

The Group HR Manager will lead the entire human resources function for the organisation, aligning HR strategy with business objectives and ensuring compliance with South African labour legislation. This hands‑on, KPI‑driven professional will oversee performance management, industrial relations, skills development, recruitment and payroll operations.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement HR strategies that support overall business goals.
• Provide guidance to senior management on all HR matters and ensure policies comply with current labour laws.
• Lead, coach and develop the HR team while preparing regular HR reports for senior leadership.
• Drive performance‑management processes, set measurable KPIs and manage under‑performance according to legal requirements.
• Handle industrial‑relations issues, including disciplinary hearings, grievances, CCMA representation and maintaining constructive employee‑management relationships.
• Design and execute the skills‑development strategy, manage the Workplace Skills Plan and coordinate training with SETAs.
• Oversee end‑to‑end recruitment, onboarding, probation management and talent‑retention initiatives.

Required profile

• Proven senior HR leadership experience with a strong track record in performance management, industrial relations and talent acquisition.
• Fluency in both Afrikaans and English.
• In‑depth knowledge of South African labour legislation (Labour Relations Act, BCEA, etc.).
• Ability to lead a multidisciplinary HR team and influence senior stakeholders.
