Group Accountant

About the role

Our client, a group of companies based in Cape Town, is seeking a qualified Group Accountant to manage the accounting and reporting for multiple entities. You will be responsible for end‑to‑end bookkeeping, month‑end close, and providing insightful management reports.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and analyse management accounts for several companies or entities.
• Maintain bookkeeping and accounting records from source documents to trial‑balance level.
• Process invoices, receipts, payments and journal entries.
• Monitor development‑related costs, inventory allocations and investigate variances.
• Perform bank reconciliations and maintain accurate bank records.
• Reconcile inter‑company loan accounts and transactions.
• Liaise with external accountants, auditors, tax practitioners, suppliers and internal management.
• Review and improve existing accounting and administrative processes.
• Assist with payment preparation, supplier verification and expense allocation.
• Own month‑end close procedures, including reconciliations, accruals and management reporting packs.
• Support payroll, Income Tax and VAT queries.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of experience in accounting, financial management or group finance.
• AGA(SA) or CA(SA) qualification, or an equivalent SAICA‑recognised professional accounting qualification.
• Degree or honours in accounting or related field.
• Proficiency with Xero or similar accounting software.
