Grocery Supervisor

About the role

Star Retailers is seeking a dynamic Grocery Supervisor to lead the grocery department of one of its stores. The role involves overseeing daily operations, managing staff, and ensuring product availability and presentation meet company standards.

Key responsibilities

• Manage department staff, plan daily activities, conduct meetings and enforce discipline.
• Handle buying of products, determine replenishment needs, negotiate with suppliers and manage returns and stock rotation.
• Oversee product merchandising, allocate space, monitor promotions, pricing and ensure correct PI labels.
• Control shrinkage, maintain optimal warehouse stock levels and monitor loss.
• Coordinate promotional advertising, purchase additional stock for promotions and execute in‑store campaigns.
• Perform general admin tasks such as checking invoice pricing and monitoring product sales rates.

Required profile

• Grade 12 (Matric) qualification.
• Minimum 1 year experience as a grocery supervisor or in a similar buying/purchasing role within retail.
• Proficiency in MS Office applications.
• Experience in the retail industry is essential.
