GIT Mechanical Engineer

About the role

Afrimat Industries (Pty) Ltd, based in Lichtenburg, South Africa, is looking for a GIT Mechanical Engineer. The role involves joining the Aframat engineering intern program and supporting maintenance improvement projects across the site.

Key responsibilities

• Complete the Afrimat engineering intern program.
• Assist with multiple maintenance improvement projects across Afrimat.
• Attend site meetings to understand operational conditions.
• Assist with improving the maintenance and availability of mining equipment.

Required profile

• Grade 12 and a BSc in Mechanical Engineering.
• Valid driver's license.
• Willing and fast learner with a self-driven attitude and outstanding academic record.
• Positive attitude to working in a process plant environment.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills, able to explain complex ideas verbally and in writing.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team.

Required skills

• Knowledge of mechanical and electronic equipment and engineering principles in the heavy machinery industry.
• Theoretical knowledge of process plant and equipment optimization.
• Root cause failure analysis (RCFA) investigation skills.
• Problem-solving and analytical skills.
