General Worker – Waste Management (3 positions)

About the role

Midvaal Local Municipality is seeking three General Workers to support its CBD Waste Management operations in Meyerton. The role involves a variety of physical tasks related to waste collection, landfill upkeep and recycling centre assistance.

Key responsibilities

• Perform litter control, sweeping of streets, sidewalks, taxi and bus ranks, and removal of waste from public dustbins.
• Assist with landfill traffic control, spotters, and general upkeep of the landfill and recycling centre.
• Load and off‑load materials and equipment, and store tools safely after use.
• Collect metal, sharp objects and building rubble to maintain safety and cleanliness.
• Support customers and the public with waste disposal and maintain municipal facilities.

Required profile

• Basic literacy (Grade 10) – Grade 12 is an advantage.
• Valid driver’s licence is an advantage.
• Bilingual communication skills.
• Good physical health and ability to perform manual labour.
• At least one year of relevant experience in waste management within a local government authority.

What we offer

• Salary range: R166 392.00 – R182 280.00 per annum (Level 13, Grade 8).
• Total compensation package inclusive of benefits: R307 561.00 per annum.
