General Worker - Waste Control

About the role

The Waste Control division is looking for committed, hardworking and trustworthy people to join its team as General Workers on a fixed-term contract until 08 January 2027. Successful candidates report to the Waste Control Transport Manager and Transport Controllers. The main purpose of the role is to support the Waste Control Drivers and deliver professional, efficient and accurate service to customers whose materials are being collected.

Key responsibilities

• Assist and support the driver with general duties
• Guide the driver in and out of confined spaces when required
• Keep the truck clean and neat
• Fill the truck with diesel at the diesel pumps
• Keep the Waste Control yard clean when the truck is not operational
• Assist with spill cleanups at the yard and at customer premises
• Ensure all loads are secured and covered at all times
• Work safely so as not to endanger yourself or others, and follow the Standard Operating Procedures
• Carry out other general duties as instructed by drivers or controllers

Required profile

• Minimum Grade 12
• Attention to detail
• Willingness to work overtime and on public holidays during the December period
• Ability to work in a team and independently, with minimal supervision
• Ability to function efficiently under pressure
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Self-motivated, organized and professional approach
