General Worker – Stores (Warehouse) – Chief

About the role

The Western Cape Department of Health and Wellness is seeking a Chief General Worker for the Stores (Warehouse) at Worcester Regional Hospital. The role involves supporting the hospital’s supply chain by managing stock flow, maintaining a safe warehouse environment, and ensuring timely distribution of goods.

Key responsibilities

• Provide effective warehouse and stock support by receiving, handling, and issuing stock, maintaining accurate records and ensuring adequate shelf levels.
• Maintain a clean and organised warehouse environment and support efficient stock movement and distribution to hospital departments.
• Assist with delivery, relocation, and disposal of furniture and equipment within the hospital, ensuring safe handling.
• Uphold professional conduct by adhering to attendance, leave, working hours, departmental policies and the Code of Conduct.

Required profile

• Basic numeracy and literacy with appropriate experience in a warehouse environment.
• Good physical health and ability to perform physical tasks, operate heavy‑duty warehouse equipment, handle cleaning materials, high‑dusting and lift heavy supplies.
• Ability to work effectively in a team and communicate responsibly.

Required skills

• Operation of heavy‑duty warehouse equipment.
• Stock issuing and management using the Accounting Officer System (AOS).
• Basic numerical skills for inventory control.
