General Worker – Road Maintenance & Store Support

About the role

The General Worker will support road‑work activities and store operations across the Bakwena Toll Road network. You will work outdoors in all weather conditions, performing a variety of manual tasks to keep the road safe and functional.

Key responsibilities

• Provide traffic accommodation to protect motorists and the work team during road works.
• Remove and install damaged road studs and repair potholes.
• Cut grass, mow, clear fences and remove debris from the road reserve.
• Operate mechanical equipment such as brush cutters and chainsaws to clear vegetation and trees.
• Fix road signs, dig holes for road‑furniture posts, and perform general site clean‑up.
• Wash and clean company vehicles and equipment.
• Move stock and equipment within the store, maintaining cleanliness and order.
• Follow safe‑working procedures and comply with the OHS Act.

Required profile

• Grade 10/11 or any technical qualification.
• At least 1 year of related experience in general labour or road maintenance.
• Valid unendorsed Code 08 light motor‑vehicle driver’s licence.
• Physically fit to lift heavy objects and work on roads spanning ~380 km.
• Good oral and written English communication skills.
• Ability to work in a team and travel or stay outside Pretoria when required.
