General Nurse - Ward 16

About the role

Netcare Pretoria East Hospital is looking for a General Nurse to join its team in Ward 16. The role sits within the daily clinical operations of the ward and calls for someone who integrates into the nursing process, supports the medical team, and keeps clear communication with patients and their families. It is a demanding position requiring professional resilience.

Key responsibilities

• Provide general nursing care in line with the established nursing process.
• Manage patient admissions, discharges and transfers promptly to manage beds effectively.
• Assist with triage and registration of incoming patients.
• Record medical documentation accurately and submit it within required timeframes.
• Maintain clinical equipment and keep patient care areas to hygiene standards.
• Respond to call bells efficiently and take part in shift handovers.
• Follow clinical waste protocols and infection control measures.

Required profile

• Registered professional with the South African Nursing Council (SANC); current, active registration is mandatory.
• Basic General Nursing qualification or enrolment in the final stages of the programme.
• Previous hospital experience is not strictly required but is a significant advantage.
• Comfortable working shifts, including weekends, public holidays and night duty.
