General Maintenance Technician – Night Shift

About the role

The Cape Town EDITION Hotel is seeking a dedicated General Maintenance Technician to work the night shift. You will be the first point of contact for guest repair requests and will ensure the hotel's facilities run smoothly while maintaining high safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to and resolve guest maintenance requests with minimal supervision.
• Perform preventive maintenance on tools, equipment and building systems.
• Inspect, troubleshoot and repair air‑conditioning, refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic controls and carpentry issues.
• Carry out minor painting, drywall, wood‑trim repairs and ensure thorough clean‑up after work.
• Maintain inventory, requisition parts and supplies, and communicate shift hand‑overs using approved procedures.
• Apply Lockout/Tagout protocols before any repair work.
• Use engineering software for preventative maintenance, energy management and MEP system monitoring.
• Mentor junior engineers and perform Engineer‑on‑Duty duties when required.

Required profile

• Ability to work independently during night hours and communicate effectively with guests.
• Strong knowledge of hotel safety, security and confidentiality policies.
• Professional appearance, reliable attendance and willingness to follow all training and certification requirements.
