General Assistant

About the role

The General Assistant supports daily operations in a hospitality setting, ensuring food service runs smoothly and dining areas remain welcoming. This position involves hands‑on tasks from food preparation to maintaining cleanliness and assisting with events.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with basic food preparation and meal service.
• Serve food and beverages according to company standards.
• Keep dining and service areas clean, organized, and inviting.
• Wash dishes, utensils, equipment, and kitchen areas.
• Receive, store, and rotate stock following FIFO principles.
• Replenish food, beverages, and service items during operating hours.
• Follow food safety, health, and hygiene regulations at all times.
• Support catering functions, meetings, and special events as needed.
• Assist with waste management and recycling procedures.
• Perform any other duties reasonably assigned by management.

Required profile

• Basic understanding of food safety and hygiene practices.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work under pressure.
• Flexibility to work shifts as required by the operation.
• Grade 12 or equivalent qualification.
• Previous experience in catering, hospitality, restaurant, or corporate dining is advantageous.
