Full Stack Java Developer (Contract) – Hybrid – Gauteng

About the role

Our client is seeking a senior Full Stack Java Developer on a contract basis to join a high‑impact DevOps team within the Group IT Hub South Africa. The role focuses on developing and maintaining central ordering applications that manage the booking of production slots, order scheduling and hand‑over to markets across global plants.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and deliver high‑quality backend and frontend components using Java, Spring Boot and modern UI frameworks.
• Maintain and enhance micro‑service based architecture, ensuring robust data handling with SQL, ORM, Kafka and JMS.
• Provide DevOps support, monitor production systems and be on standby for incident resolution.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to integrate AI‑driven features into the ordering platform.
• Define technical standards and mentor junior developers.

Required profile

• 15+ years of professional Java and Spring Boot experience.
• Proven track record designing micro‑services and complex integration patterns.
• Experience delivering AI‑enabled enterprise solutions.
• Strong leadership skills with ability to influence technical direction across teams.
