Full Stack Engineer (Android)

About the role

We are looking for a versatile Full Stack Engineer with strong Android experience to join our payment orchestration platform in Cape Town. The role starts with building and enhancing our Android POS platform that runs on physical payment terminals, while also contributing to the backend services that power the fleet.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain high‑quality Android applications and backend services.
• Build and enhance Android‑based Point‑of‑Sale solutions for payment terminals.
• Develop reliable backend APIs and services using JVM languages or Node.js.
• Collaborate with product, design and engineering teams to deliver scalable, customer‑focused features.
• Write clean, well‑tested code, participate in code reviews and uphold engineering excellence.
• Troubleshoot production issues across mobile and backend, optimise performance and reduce technical debt.
• Own features end‑to‑end from design through deployment and on‑call support.
• Support engineering growth through knowledge sharing and technical interviews.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics or equivalent experience.
• Proven experience delivering production Android applications using Kotlin.
• Experience building and maintaining backend services with Java or Kotlin (Spring Boot) and/or Node.js with TypeScript.
• Hands‑on experience designing and consuming REST or GraphQL APIs.
• Strong understanding of software engineering best practices including testing, source control, CI/CD and Agile development.
• Fluent use of AI‑assisted coding tools such as Claude Code, Cursor or Codex in daily work.
