Full Stack Developer

About the role

OpsFi is seeking a Full Stack Developer to join the engineering team of an InsurTech client based in the United States. The position is fully remote within South Africa and offers the chance to work on modern insurance and technology products alongside US and SA teams.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and deploy responsive user interfaces and robust backend services.
• Build and maintain reliable APIs that integrate core platforms with third‑party services, AI risk models and hardware telemetry.
• Design efficient data models, write performant queries and ensure data integrity across relational and non‑relational databases.
• Write clean, maintainable code, conduct code reviews and implement unit/integration tests.
• Collaborate with Product Owners and QA engineers in an Agile/Scrum environment to clarify specifications and iterate quickly.
• Monitor system performance, address technical debt, fix bugs and apply security best practices.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years of hands‑on software engineering experience building full‑stack web applications.
• Proven ability to work independently and as part of a distributed team.
• Strong understanding of Agile development processes.

Required skills

• JavaScript / TypeScript
• Modern front‑end frameworks such as React, Vue.js or Angular
• API design and integration (RESTful services)
• Relational (SQL) and non‑relational (NoSQL) database experience
• Unit and integration testing
