Freelance Financial Accountant

About the role

GVPM Management Consulting is looking for a qualified Freelance Financial Accountant to prepare Annual Financial Statements (AFS) using its proprietary cloud accounting platform. The role is fully remote and project‑based, requiring independent work and strict adherence to timelines and professional standards.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare Annual Financial Statements in line with IFRS for SMEs using the GVPM Cloud accounting system.
• Review and reconcile trial balances, general ledger accounts, and supporting schedules before finalising the AFS.
• Draft supporting notes, disclosures, and accounting policies to meet statutory and regulatory requirements.
• Liaise with the Managing Director and internal stakeholders to obtain documentation and clarify transactions.
• Ensure timely submission of AFS for statutory filing, audit, tax and compliance purposes.
• Maintain confidentiality of all financial and business information.
• Provide ad‑hoc financial reporting, reconciliation or accounting support as needed.

Required profile

• At least 5 years of experience preparing Annual Financial Statements.
• Recognised accounting qualification (National Diploma/Degree in Accounting or equivalent).
• Member in good standing of a recognised professional accounting body (SAIPA, SAICA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
• Strong knowledge of IFRS for SMEs and South African financial reporting requirements.
• Ability to work independently, manage time effectively and meet deadlines.

Required skills

• Proficiency with GVPM Cloud accounting system (or similar platforms such as Xero, Sage, QuickBooks Online).
• Experience with cloud‑based accounting systems.
• Excellent reconciliation and analytical abilities.
• Detailed understanding of IFRS for SMEs.
