Fractional Financial Controller (Remote)

About the role

Our client, an established Australian group operating in construction, maintenance and specialist coatings, is looking for a Fractional Financial Controller to provide strategic finance leadership across two entities. This remote, hands‑on role will drive reporting, forecasting and process improvement while delivering clear financial visibility to the business.

Key responsibilities

• Own month‑end and year‑end close, prepare management accounts, KPI dashboards and project profitability reports.
• Monitor project financials, job costing, margins and work‑in‑progress reporting.
• Manage cash flow, working capital, debtor collections and supplier payment schedules.
• Improve financial processes, controls and reporting frameworks; document SOPs and identify automation opportunities.
• Oversee compliance including BAS, payroll tax and superannuation; liaise with external accountants.
• Partner with the Managing Director on strategic initiatives, pricing analysis and growth projects.

Required profile

• 5+ years experience as a Financial Controller, Finance Manager or Senior Management Accountant.
• Strong knowledge of Australian accounting standards and tax requirements.
• Advanced experience with Xero and solid financial modelling, reporting and forecasting abilities.
