Foreman – Engineering Maintenance (Mining)

About the role

Sasol is seeking a Foreman to lead engineering maintenance activities across its mining operations in Sasolburg, Free State. The role ensures equipment availability, supports production targets and drives continuous improvement in safety and reliability.

Key responsibilities

• Manage daily engineering and maintenance strategies, overhaul plans and KPI achievement.
• Control maintenance costs versus budget and monitor equipment downtime, shift performance, MTTF and MTTR.
• Implement operational projects, ensure compliance with engineering standards, and develop SOPs for the assigned area.
• Lead condition‑monitoring programmes, execute predictive‑maintenance recommendations and conduct failure‑trend analysis.
• Oversee safety, health and environmental (SHE) compliance, aiming for zero incidents and meeting RCR targets.
• Recruit, train, coach and develop the maintenance team, managing vacancy rates and employee engagement.

Required profile

• Proven experience in engineering maintenance within a mining or heavy‑industry environment.
• Strong leadership skills with a focus on safety, cost control and team development.
• Ability to manage budgets, analyse performance data and drive continuous improvement.
