Food Technologist

About the role

The Food Technologist will ensure food safety and quality compliance across the factory by managing non‑conformances, resolving product and process issues, and driving continuous improvement. The role involves overseeing QC activities, conducting audits, and maintaining documentation to meet food safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Investigate and resolve microbiological, quality, and food safety issues in products, components, and processes.
• Manage non‑conformances, customer complaints, RTVs, and shelf‑life issues, implementing corrective and preventive actions.
• Conduct internal audits, maintain audit schedules, and ensure timely closure of NCRs by teams and suppliers.
• Maintain supplier assurance, liaise with customers, and provide regular reporting and trend analysis.
• Oversee QC activities, supervise QC teams, and verify daily CCP checks.
• Maintain and update food safety documentation, systems, and policies to ensure compliance with FSQ standards.
• Deliver training, perform traceability tests, and run mock recalls to ensure operational readiness.
• Ensure factory compliance through inspections, hygiene enforcement, deep‑clean supervision, and process validation.

Required profile

• Diploma in Food Technology.
• 3‑4 years of experience in the food or beverage industry with a focus on quality assurance.
• Knowledge of high‑care and low‑care protocols is advantageous.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of food safety systems (ISO standards, FSSC 22000, PRPs).
• Understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices and Woolworths Code of Practice.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Familiarity with Shopware system (advantageous).
