About the role
Aviner is looking for a proactive Food Buyer to manage the procurement of grocery items for its Durbanville operations. You will be responsible for sourcing, purchasing and ensuring the quality of food products that keep shelves stocked and kitchens running smoothly.
Key responsibilities
- Identify, test and source new food products and ingredients.
- Select reliable suppliers and negotiate favourable contracts.
- Place regular orders to maintain optimal inventory levels and avoid shortages.
- Track inventory, monitor market trends and respond to customer demand.
- Negotiate pricing and terms to stay within the purchasing budget.
- Compare vendor costs to achieve the best value for the business.
- Ensure all purchased items comply with safety and health regulations.
- Inspect product quality, manage returns and handle any non‑conformities.
Required profile
- Experience in FMCG buying or food procurement.
- Willingness to travel as needed.
- Valid driver’s licence.
