Fleet Specialist – Vehicle Systems & Maintenance

About the role

The Fleet Specialist is responsible for ensuring the reliability and safety of all vehicle‑based security and communication systems. You will work closely with the National Systems Manager and Regional Fleet Coordinator to maintain fleet equipment to the highest standards.

Key responsibilities

• Perform quality control on security and vehicle systems, adhering to SOPs and reporting malfunctions immediately.
• Develop and execute a preventative maintenance programme for all fleet equipment.
• Maintain software updates on PCs, base stations and vehicle systems, supporting the service desk with deployments.
• Inspect base‑station hardware weekly, log version changes and request replacements for faulty units.
• Test, troubleshoot and repair electronic equipment and wiring, meeting agreed SLA targets.
• Manage spare‑part stock, allocate, bill and replenish inventory on a weekly basis.
• Handle end‑to‑end fault reporting via the prescribed platform and compile monthly fault‑trend analyses.
• Coordinate equipment removal, disposals and transfers with the Fleet Controller.
• Support testing, installation and retro‑fitting of new systems, escalating discrepancies as needed.
• Provide first‑line training to mechanical and operational staff on system maintenance.

Required profile

• Strong adherence to SOPs and ability to work within defined SLA frameworks.
• Experience in preventive maintenance planning for vehicle fleets.
• Proven capability to manage spare‑part inventories and logistics.
• Ability to document work, generate reports and conduct fault‑trend analysis.
• Effective communication with regional and national fleet managers.
