Fleet Manager

About the role

Our client in Kempton Park is looking for an experienced Fleet Manager to lead and optimise fleet operations in a fast‑paced, overland tourism environment. You will be responsible for maintaining a fleet of 4x4 vehicles and associated off‑road equipment, ensuring safety, compliance and high availability.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and enforce preventative maintenance schedules for 4x4 vehicles and camping accessories.
• Conduct rigorous pre‑ and post‑rental inspections, ensuring cleanliness, safety and mechanical soundness.
• Coordinate remote support for breakdowns or accidents across South Africa and neighbouring countries.
• Manage relationships with regional mechanics, towing services and panel beaters.
• Ensure all vehicles meet National Road Traffic Act requirements and cross‑border compliance.

Required profile

• 5+ years of fleet operations experience, including at least 3 years in car rental or overland/4x4 tourism.
• Diploma or degree in Transport Management, Logistics or Supply Chain (advantageous).
• Valid South African Code EB or EC1 driver’s licence and passport.
• Ability to work under high‑pressure conditions and handle after‑hours emergencies.
• Strong negotiation and supplier‑management capabilities.

Required skills

• Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency.
• Hands‑on experience with telematics platforms and fleet management systems.
• Technical knowledge of 4x4 vehicle mechanics and off‑road accessories.

What we offer

• Basic salary of R25 000 per month.
