Fitter & Turner – Mechanical Maintenance for Plant Equipment

About the role

We are seeking a qualified Fitter & Turner for a plant based in Brits, North West. The successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and fault‑finding of critical plant equipment to ensure maximum plant availability and operational efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Perform mechanical maintenance and repairs on plant equipment
• Conduct routine inspections, fault‑finding, and preventative maintenance activities
• Maintain and repair conveyors, crushers, screens, feeders, and slurry pumps
• Identify and resolve mechanical faults to minimise downtime
• Ensure equipment remains operational and performs efficiently
• Adhere to all health, safety, and maintenance procedures
• Complete maintenance reports and relevant documentation as required
• Work closely with the maintenance team to ensure plant reliability and performance

Required profile

• Qualified Fitter & Turner with a completed Trade Test (Red Seal advantageous)
• Minimum 3 years' relevant mechanical maintenance experience
• Experience within a Chrome Plant environment is highly advantageous
• Good knowledge and experience with conveyor belts and conveyor systems
• Experience maintaining and repairing Jaw Crushers and VSI Crushers
• Knowledge of screens and feeders
• Experience working with slurry pumps
• Strong mechanical maintenance, troubleshooting, and fault‑finding skills
• Ability to work independently and within a team
• Medically fit and able to work in a plant environment
• Available to start as soon as possible
• Valid driver’s licence and reliable transport preferred; candidates residing in or around Rustenburg and Brits will receive preference
