First Line Manager - Transport & Trunking

About the role

As a First Line Manager – Transport & Trunking you will lead the delivery of transport and trunking processes, ensuring service levels are met while controlling costs. Based in our Cape Town operations hub, you will contribute to the business unit’s annual plan, budget and scorecard through a continuous‑improvement mindset.

Key responsibilities

• Attend DC Invocom and handover meetings and provide operational input.
• Build and maintain relationships with DCs, stores, suppliers and equipment centres to achieve SLA targets.
• Manage third‑party transport logistics and monitor vehicle utilisation, driver availability and equipment readiness.
• Identify stores that miss transport turnaround targets, analyse root causes and report findings to senior management.
• Ensure end‑to‑end process compliance with documented standards, including vehicle loading, bay scheduling and resource allocation.

Required profile

• Matric (Grade 12) certificate is mandatory.
• Three‑year logistics/commerce diploma or NQF Level 6 qualification is advantageous.
• Minimum three years of supply‑chain managerial experience, preferably in retail/FMCG.
• Previous supervisory or management experience in transport or logistics.
• Quality‑assurance background such as Six Sigma is a plus.
