Financial Manager

About the role

FirstRand is looking for a Financial Manager in Johannesburg who provides operational financial direction to business units. The role covers accounting workflows, financial controls, statutory and management reporting, and budgeting for the area of responsibility.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and improve accounting workflow systems and processes while ensuring financial controls and procedures are followed for internal and external stakeholders.
• Compile statutory, regulatory and management reports for the corporate bank.
• Develop the annual budget for the area, research longer-term financial resource requirements, present business cases and control spending and authorise expenditures.
• Manage risk exposure through corporate governance, compliance, integrity and ethics policies, and manage audit findings; take part in group risk forums.
• Build relationships, network externally, benchmark and represent the organisation at group and industry level.
• Drive strategic projects, change management and platform integration, and lead specialist communities of practice.
• Encourage continuous personal and professional development and build collaborative working relationships.
