Financial Director – Durban

About the role

The Financial Director will report directly to the Managing Director and sit on the Executive Committee. This senior position oversees the finance function, ensuring accurate reporting, compliance, and strategic financial guidance for the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee, review, present and monitor departmental budgets, providing clear monthly statements to executive management.
• Analyse macro‑economic trends, foreign‑exchange risk and recommend strategic actions to safeguard long‑term sustainability.
• Represent the company at external stakeholder events and ensure external information is communicated internally.
• Maintain corporate financial reporting standards, manage relationships with banks, auditors and service providers.
• Lead implementation of Socio‑Economic Development, Procurement, Enterprise Development and BBBEE strategies.
• Prepare financial feasibility models for capital‑intensive projects and oversee annual insurance declarations.
• Recruit, train and manage the finance team, ensuring resources are available even during load‑shedding and that appropriate software is used.
• Review monthly finance and payroll reconciliations and implement internal controls based on audit findings.

Required profile

• Senior finance professional with proven experience leading a finance department.
• Strong understanding of financial regulations, macro‑economic analysis and foreign‑exchange risk.
• Ability to communicate complex financial information to senior executives and external stakeholders.
• Experience managing relationships with banks, auditors and service providers.
• Leadership skills to recruit, develop and retain a high‑performing finance team.
