Financial Controller: SOX & Internal Controls

About the role

Lesaka Technology, a dual‑listed company on Nasdaq and JSE, is seeking a senior Financial Controller to lead its SOX and internal control function within the Enterprise Division. Based in Cape Town with local travel, the role reports to the CFO and works closely with internal audit, external auditors and the Audit Committee.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and implement the SOX internal controls programme for the division, including scoping, risk assessment and control matrix development.
• Maintain the Risk and Control Matrix for all in‑scope financial reporting processes such as Revenue, Procure‑to‑Pay, Financial Close, Treasury, Payroll and IT General Controls.
• Ensure controls are aligned with the COSO framework and Nasdaq/SEC requirements and oversee control testing, deficiency remediation and SOX 404 attestation.
• Conduct periodic walkthroughs with control owners, document controls and verify operating effectiveness.
• Collaborate with finance, operations and IT stakeholders to embed controls into daily processes and report on compliance status.

Required profile

• Qualified finance professional with extensive experience designing and operating SOX programmes, preferably from a Big 4 audit firm or a listed company.
• Strong commercial acumen and ability to engage senior stakeholders across the organisation.
• Proven track record of managing SOX 302/404 compliance and interacting with audit committees.
