Financial Controller

About the role

We are looking for a hands‑on, commercially driven Financial Controller to support franchise operations across multiple stores in Cape Town. The role partners closely with operations and senior management to ensure financial accuracy, compliance and profitability.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and present monthly financial results for individual stores and the group.
• Analyse store profitability, including sales, food costs, labour costs and overheads.
• Monitor and control key operational cost drivers and manage daily sales reconciliations and cash‑control processes.
• Ensure compliance with SARS regulations (VAT, PAYE, Income Tax) and support audit processes.
• Develop and maintain finance and operational SOPs and enhance reporting frameworks.
• Oversee creditors, debtors and finance administration functions.
• Monitor cash flow and working capital across multiple stores.
• Assist with business analytics, deep‑dive reporting and operational cost analysis.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (Honours degree advantageous).
• Completed SAICA articles and at least 2 years post‑articles experience.
• Experience in retail, FMCG or QSR environments is a plus.
• Strong commercial and operational mindset with high attention to detail.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills.

Required skills

• Advanced Microsoft Excel.
• Accounting software such as Sage or Xero.
• Exposure to POS systems.
• Strong understanding of SARS compliance requirements.
