Financial Accountant – Wine Industry

About the role

We are a well‑established wine business seeking a detail‑oriented Financial Accountant to join our finance team. You will be responsible for accurate financial reporting, statutory compliance, stock management and foreign exchange administration in a dynamic environment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform and post monthly bank reconciliations and balance‑sheet reconciliations.
• Process month‑end journals, maintain the fixed‑asset register and calculate depreciation.
• Reconcile daily cash‑ups from the tasting room with bank statements.
• Ensure timely month‑end and year‑end reconciliations and calculate sales commissions.
• Complete monthly EMP201 submissions, quarterly Stats SA questionnaires and VAT returns.
• Handle payroll‑related statutory returns to SARS and manage VAT account reconciliations.
• Assist with stock takes, stock adjustments, transfer orders and resolve discrepancies.
• Record incoming foreign funds details on NedTreasury and ensure accurate forex information.
• Support and train finance team members, assist with BEE audit requirements and financial audit preparation.
• Liaise with banks for administration changes and support finance system integration and payroll where needed.

Required profile

• Relevant BCom degree with SAIPA articles completed.
• Experience in financial and administrative roles within a corporate environment.
• Reliable transport is essential.
