Financial Accountant

About the role

The Financial Accountant will support Group‑wide financial accounting and reporting, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and internal management accounting processes. This role works closely with finance managers across operating divisions and the Group Technical team.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare the Group’s consolidated financial statements and related notes for IFRS and Companies Act reporting.
• Implement accounting standard changes and business requirements into the Business Warehouse consolidation system.
• Coordinate with external auditors on Group consolidation audits.
• Monitor and improve the timeliness and accuracy of income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, and statutory reports.
• Produce National Treasury Grap AFS reports, quarterly STATSSA and SARB filings, and GMTN Base Prospectus updates.
• Define performance goals, mentor trainee accountants, and manage ad‑hoc reporting requests from senior finance leadership.

Required profile

• Chartered Accountant (CA) qualification (South Africa) is mandatory.
• Proven experience in financial reporting, consolidation and statutory compliance.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS, the South African Companies Act and related regulatory frameworks.
