Finance Manager

About the role

We are seeking a Finance Manager to lead the finance function of a well‑established business in La Lucia, Durban. The role combines technical accounting, leadership and commercial exposure, partnering with senior management to drive strategic decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements, management accounts and board reports.
• Maintain strong internal controls, general ledger integrity and ensure IFRS compliance.
• Lead the annual budgeting process, ongoing forecasting and provide cost‑efficiency insights.
• Manage the external audit process and ensure compliance with tax regulations, including VAT and corporate tax.
• Lead, mentor and develop the finance team, overseeing payroll and day‑to‑day finance operations.
• Manage cash flow, working capital and analyse financial performance to support strategic decision‑making.
• Leverage ERP systems (SAP, NetSuite, JDE, Pastel) to improve reporting efficiency and drive process automation.

Required profile

• CA(SA) qualification (essential).
• 4–5 years post‑articles experience, preferably in a retail or commercial environment.
• Proven ability to lead and manage a finance team.
• Strong commercial mindset with high analytical ability.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Required skills

• IFRS and other relevant accounting standards.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel.
• Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, NetSuite, JDE or Pastel.
• Tax compliance (VAT, corporate tax) and audit coordination.
• Budgeting and forecasting.
