Finance Manager - Costing and Recoveries

About the role

Liberty is looking for a seasoned finance professional to join its team in Johannesburg as a contractor, acting as the linchpin of the Costing and Recoveries department. The role keeps the financial architecture supporting the business units robust, accurate and aligned with the organisation's strategic goals, combining deep financial analysis with technical system management. It suits someone who wants to build, refine and implement costing models that turn complex data into actionable business intelligence.

Key responsibilities

• Take full accountability for the functional support given to internal stakeholders and maintain control over costing processes and recovery mechanisms.
• Design, implement and maintain sophisticated costing and recovery models for different business areas.
• Use advanced SQL to extract and synthesise large datasets into clear financial insights.
• Manage end-to-end cost allocation so that budgeting and forecasting align with company standards.
• Oversee the reporting cycle and provide accurate financial summaries for management decisions.
• Monitor and improve financial control frameworks to mitigate risk and increase efficiency.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in a quantitative or financial field such as Financial Management, Mathematics, Statistics, Informatics or Cost and Management Accounting.
• 3 to 5 years of finance experience, specifically in costing analysis or management accounting.
• Proven experience in financial reporting and cost management environments.
• Strong grasp of transfer pricing, financial planning and the interpretation of complex financial statements.

Required skills

• Enterprise finance platforms such as SAP ECC or Business Cost Management (BCM)
• Advanced SQL and handling of large volumes of operational data
