Finance Controller – South Africa

About the role

The Finance Controller will ensure accurate margin analysis, reliable financial reporting and effective cost control for our South African operations. You will work closely with the finance team, treasury, tax specialists and business units to deliver high‑quality financial information and support strategic decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse margins and produce monthly reports on business profitability, including inventory valuation and segmentation performance.
• Prepare monthly customer and site profitability statements and review price updates and discounts for accuracy and competitiveness.
• Maintain daily controls, weekly volume flash, and bi‑weekly flash reports; ensure timely full P&L, line‑of‑business and FX reviews.
• Review fixed costs by account and cost centre, ensuring budget compliance and proper explanation of exceptional items.
• Develop a 3‑month rolling cash‑flow forecast in collaboration with treasury.
• Prepare annual P&L budget, strategic plan and capex budget; run bi‑weekly capex calls and ensure accurate capex reporting.
• Perform business‑case analysis (P&L, DCF, IRR) and support procurement procedures for capex projects.
• Ensure compliance with group, statutory and regulatory reporting requirements, including tax reporting and petroleum activity reports.
• Assist with internal and statutory audits, enforce controls and provide ad‑hoc analysis for management.

Required profile

• Proven experience in financial controlling, margin analysis and profitability reporting.
• Strong background in budgeting, cash‑flow forecasting and capex management.
• Knowledge of tax compliance and regulatory reporting in South Africa.
• Ability to prepare and present detailed financial statements, variance analysis and business cases.
• Experience supporting internal and external audits and enforcing control frameworks.
