Finance Analyst - FP&A Reporting

About the role

The Takealot Group, a cornerstone of South Africa's digital economy, is hiring a Finance Analyst for its Corporate FP&A division in Cape Town. The role manages the Group's internal reporting infrastructure so that data-driven insights are accurate, consistent and available to leadership. It suits someone comfortable with complex data architectures as well as high-level financial reporting, and also drives digital transformation by automating manual bottlenecks.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the month-end process end to end, ensuring reconciliations, management accounts and financial deliverables meet strict quality standards.
• Design, govern and maintain the Looker reporting environment for stakeholders across AP, FinOps and Customer Insights.
• Prioritise and execute automation projects, building and redesigning processes with advanced Excel, SQL and emerging AI tools.
• Partner with IT, BI and Product teams on data requirements, platform integration (such as TM1 and Looker) and output validation.
• Mentor junior analysts, review their work and collaborate with business unit finance partners.
• Standardise internal controls and document workflows so reporting logic stays transparent during peak cycles.

Required profile

• BCom (Hons) or equivalent degree in Finance or Accounting; CA(SA), CIMA or CFA highly regarded.
• At least 5 years in FP&A, management reporting or BI-focused finance roles, with proven success leading month-end cycles.
• History of process redesigns that save time or mitigate operational risk.
• Clear communication and experience mentoring junior team members.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel (mandatory)
• Working knowledge of SQL and BI platforms such as Looker
• Familiarity with TM1, Sage or Python is an advantage
