Field Technician IT – Head Office

About the role

The Field Technician IT provides first- and second‑line support across operational sites, ensuring that hardware, software and network services run smoothly. This role is based at the head office but requires regular travel to multiple mining locations.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver first‑ and second‑line technical support on‑site, responding to incidents within defined service levels.
• Install, configure and maintain workstations, laptops, rugged devices, printers, scanners and other field peripherals.
• Troubleshoot hardware and software issues in real‑time operational environments.
• Support LAN, Wi‑Fi and site connectivity solutions (VPN, satellite, fibre, LTE) and resolve network outages.
• Maintain VOIP systems and ensure reliable communication between sites and head office.
• Assist with installations, upgrades, migrations and rollouts of ERP, HRIS, time‑and‑attendance and safety systems.
• Track IT assets, manage inventory, process procurement requests and enforce security policies.
• Document configurations, incidents and resolutions; provide regular performance updates to IT management.
• Train end‑users, support onboarding and promote safe IT practices.

Required profile

• Matric certificate or equivalent.
• Diploma or degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field.
• CompTIA A+, Network+ and/or Microsoft certifications.
• 2–5 years of practical IT support experience, preferably in field or site environments.
• Experience working in mining operations.
• Reliability, accountability and adaptability to changing environments.
• Willingness to travel and support multiple sites.
