Field Service Engineer (MedTech)

About the role

GE Healthcare is hiring a Field Service Engineer in Johannesburg to install, maintain, troubleshoot and repair cyclotron, PET/CT, CT and nuclear medicine systems. The role covers electrical, electronic, mechanical and software components, and requires frequent travel within Gauteng and occasionally to other African countries.

Key responsibilities

• Install, maintain, troubleshoot and repair cyclotron, PET/CT, CT and nuclear medicine systems.
• Perform preventive maintenance, calibration, fault diagnosis and complex repairs across electrical, electronic, mechanical and software components.
• Carry out advanced troubleshooting and root cause analysis to restore system performance and minimise downtime.
• Maintain accurate service documentation, technical reports and compliance records.
• Ensure all activities comply with quality, safety and regulatory requirements.

Required profile

• 4-5+ years of field service engineering experience.
• Diploma in electronics, electrical engineering or a related technical discipline.
• Proven experience servicing cyclotron systems in a radiopharmacy environment is strongly preferred; alternatively, extensive hands-on experience with PET/CT, CT or nuclear medicine systems.
• Fluent English and excellent customer-facing and communication skills.
• Willingness to travel frequently within Gauteng and occasionally to other African countries.

Required skills

• Interpretation of electrical schematics, circuit diagrams and mechanical drawings.
• Advanced troubleshooting, fault-finding and root cause analysis.
