Fibre Optic Splicing Technician

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Fibre Optic Splicing Technician to lead field teams in installing, maintaining, and repairing fibre networks across Mbombela. The role combines hands‑on splicing work with supervisory responsibilities, ensuring high‑quality service delivery and customer satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

• Perform fibre splicing on dome joints and termination panels.
• Conduct OTDR, OLTS, and ATP testing and generate accurate test reports.
• Build links, locate faults, and execute repairs on fibre infrastructure.
• Install and splice termination boxes and ONTs for customer activations.
• Upload daily test results, as‑built reports, and job documentation to company systems.
• Supervise and mentor fibre technicians and splicing teams in the field.
• Carry out quality inspections, network audits, and safety checks.
• Coordinate with head office, planning, and operations teams.
• Respond to after‑hours and weekend fibre breaks, participating in standby schedules.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of fibre optic splicing experience.
• Previous supervisory or team‑lead experience.
• Valid driver’s licence and reliable personal vehicle.
• Strong communication and reporting abilities.
• Willingness to work after hours and be on standby when required.
