Principal Solutions Architect – Telecom & IT

About the role

The Principal Specialist: Solutions Architect will lead a team to design and deliver end‑to‑end technology solutions for Vodacom Business customers. You will validate complex requirements across mobile, fixed, cloud and IoT domains, ensuring solutions are scalable, secure and cost‑effective.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee solution architects in defining functional requirements and shaping end‑to‑end designs that meet business objectives.
• Ensure solutions for multi‑tower, multi‑technology projects align with architecture standards for performance, security and maintainability.
• Capture and drive programmes that create interconnected offers for a seamless customer experience.
• Define and enforce architectural frameworks, guardrails and guidelines across product and engineering teams.
• Conduct root‑cause analysis for complex delivery issues and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Relevant degree in Computer Science, Engineering or IT (post‑graduate qualifications desirable).
• 7+ years of technology architecture experience, including 3+ years managing an architecture team.
• Deep knowledge of TOGAF and domain architecture design.
• Strong business development and telecom/IT design expertise.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management and leadership skills.
