Feedmill Manager – Lead Production Operations

About the role

Karan Beef is looking for a motivated Feedmill Manager to oversee all aspects of its feedmill operations. You will be responsible for delivering high‑quality livestock feed while ensuring safety, cost efficiency and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Manage daily feedmill operations to meet production targets.
• Plan and coordinate production schedules in line with operational needs.
• Ensure feed meets quality, nutritional and safety specifications.
• Monitor efficiency, drive continuous‑improvement initiatives and report performance.
• Oversee preventative maintenance programmes to maximise equipment reliability.
• Control raw‑material inventory and maintain accurate stock records.
• Track production costs and identify cost‑saving opportunities.
• Lead, mentor and develop supervisors and production staff.
• Ensure compliance with OHS legislation, GMP, HACCP and company standards.
• Prepare daily, weekly and monthly operational reports for management.
• Collaborate with Procurement, Maintenance, QA and Feedlot Operations.

Required profile

• Degree or Diploma in Animal Science, Agriculture, Production Management, Operations Management, Engineering or related field.
• 5–10 years’ experience in a feedmill, agricultural manufacturing or livestock feed production environment.
• Strong knowledge of feed production processes, quality assurance and inventory management.
• Experience with preventative maintenance planning and production optimisation.
• Own transport and willingness to travel to other group sites.
• Clean criminal record and residence in or willingness to relocate to Pietermaritzburg.
