Feedlot Manager

About the role

The Feedlot Manager will be responsible for the overall performance, health, and efficiency of the feedlot operation in Delmas. This senior position requires strong veterinary expertise, leadership, and a focus on animal welfare and profitability.

Key responsibilities

• Lead herd health management, diagnose and treat conditions, and implement preventative programs.
• Oversee daily feedlot operations including feeding, cattle movement, infrastructure maintenance, and feed quality.
• Conduct herd health assessments, maintain accurate records, and coordinate with external veterinarians.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory, biosecurity, and safety standards.
• Manage and develop the feedlot team, fostering accountability and high performance.
• Control budgets, monitor KPIs, and drive cost‑saving initiatives to improve profitability.
• Prepare operational reports and liaise with suppliers, senior management, and industry stakeholders.
• Implement continuous improvement initiatives and adopt industry best practices.

Required profile

• Veterinary degree (BVSc, DVM or equivalent) – strongly preferred.
• 5–8 years of experience in feedlot management or large‑scale livestock operations.
• Strong knowledge of cattle health, nutrition, and feedlot systems.
• Proven leadership experience managing large teams.
• Financial acumen with ability to manage budgets and drive profitability.
• Excellent communication and problem‑solving abilities.
