Fashion Designer

About the role

JET is looking for a Designer who creates visually engaging designs aligned with brand standards and project objectives. The role covers seasonal merchandise, trend interpretation, technical production documents and close collaboration with the buying and manufacturing teams.

Key responsibilities

• Create the look and feel of seasonal merchandise based on global trends, including silhouette, styling, fabric, print and colour
• Incorporate brand handwriting and personality into the ranges
• Brief graphic designers and outwork teams on trend and branding direction
• Develop key items for the Foschini retail team, considering platform fabrics and price points
• Monitor weekly sales and developments during the season so the brand stays relevant to consumer demand
• Produce comprehensive CAD drawings and tech packs, and test options to establish new product categories
• Provide buying teams with regular, brand-right trend information
• Manage the design process from briefing the patternmaker through to samples, ensuring quality and cost-effectiveness

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Fashion Design or Clothing Management
• 3-5 years of relevant work experience
• Manufacturing and supplier experience is beneficial
• Practical knowledge of garment construction, fabrics and trims
• Good interpersonal, communication, planning and organisation skills; able to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines

• Excellent skills in Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator (Adobe suite) and InDesign
• Microsoft Office
