Facilities Technician

About the role

DigiCert is looking for a Facilities Technician in Cape Town to help ensure an optimal working environment in its building. You will perform regular building equipment inspections, assist the Facility Manager with maintaining building equipment and coordinate the building's cleaning needs.

Key responsibilities

• Perform assigned facility inspections of HVAC, generator and UPS systems and submit reports with recommended actions
• Maintain and operate HVAC systems, blowers, roof top units and heat pump units
• Carry out general facility maintenance such as lights, basic plumbing, furniture and manual repairs
• Work with vendors to support preventive maintenance SLAs for HVAC, fire alarm systems, standby generators and UPS
• Liaise with the cleaning service team and trash removal vendors on behalf of the Facility Manager
• Respond to building emergencies, including fire, HVAC and security alarms, sometimes outside normal working hours
• Keep fire evacuation plans, inspection records, warranties and scheduled servicing up to date
• Assist the facility manager with securing maintenance proposals

Required profile

• At least 3 years of hands-on experience in facilities coordination, project management or facilities administration
• Relevant qualification in building, facilities management or construction preferred
• Plumbing and/or electrical certification advantageous
• Valid South African driver's licence and own reliable vehicle
• Ability to handle emergencies and coordinate multiple projects and service providers

Required skills

• Experience with HVAC, generators and UPS systems
• Practical experience in plumbing, lighting and general building maintenance
• Understanding of building automation systems, safety and security systems
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 for reporting and documentation
• Knowledge of health, safety and compliance requirements
