Facilities Maintenance Technician

About the role

AVI Limited is looking for an experienced Facilities Maintenance Technician to join its Logistics Support Services division in Redhill, Durban. The role ensures the safe, efficient and continuous operation of the distribution centre’s infrastructure, equipment and building systems.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on lighting, plumbing, electrical systems, doors, locks, furniture and minor building works.
• Conduct regular site inspections, identify defects and compile maintenance snag lists.
• Carry out painting, tiling, demarcation, signage installation and general upkeep of facilities and material handling equipment (MHE).
• Maintain and repair access gates, steel structures, barriers, loading docks and related site infrastructure.
• Support fleet maintenance, including minor vehicle and trailer repairs, licence fitting and dangerous‑goods signage.
• Assist with vehicle decommissioning, branding removal and component replacement.
• Respond promptly to breakdowns, perform corrective actions and minimise operational disruptions.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, inspection reports and work logs.
• Assist with installation, commissioning and ongoing maintenance of new equipment and assets.

Required profile

• Proven experience in facilities or industrial maintenance within a distribution centre environment.
• Ability to work independently, follow safety and quality standards and handle multiple maintenance tasks.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and a proactive approach to preventive maintenance.

• Basic electrical repairs (lighting, switches, outlets).
• Basic plumbing repairs.
