External Technical Sales Representative – Engineering, Welding & Mining

About the role

The role involves identifying new sales prospects and managing existing client relationships to grow market share for a high‑quality equipment supplier serving engineering, welding and mining sectors in South Africa.

Key responsibilities

• Identify new sales prospects and manage existing clients to uncover business opportunities.
• Sell products by establishing contact and maintaining relationships with customers.
• Visit customers, provide quotations, and follow up on quotations and back‑orders.
• Prepare reports, invoice customers and order stock to fulfil orders.
• Conduct cold calls, arrange product demonstrations and deliver equipment when needed.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years relevant sales experience, preferably in the welding industry.
• Matric qualification; tertiary qualification advantageous.
• Own reliable car and a valid driver’s licence.
• Clear criminal record and strong time‑management skills.

Required skills

• Knowledge of welding machines, welding consumables, gas and gas‑cutting equipment.
• Familiarity with power tools, lifting equipment, generators, abrasives, hand tools, plasma systems and compressors.
