Experienced Registered Nurse – Main Theatre

About the role

Life Healthcare is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join the Main Theatre team at Entabeni Hospital in KwaZulu‑Natal. Reporting to the Theatre Manager, the nurse will work independently to deliver high‑quality surgical nursing care.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure nursing care complies with SANC regulations, legislation, and Life Healthcare policies.
• Implement and maintain SHEQ and quality processes for the theatre environment.
• Liaise with doctors to foster collaborative working relationships.
• Manage nursing staff labour hours, staffing levels, and performance management.
• Maintain cleanliness, hygiene, and infection‑control standards.
• Oversee stock management, ordering, and charging procedures.
• Drive participative management structures to meet performance targets.

Required profile

• Registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Registered Nurse.
• Experience in theatre nursing, preferably across multiple disciplines.
• Excellent interpersonal, planning, and organisational skills.
• Strong decision‑making ability, resilience, and stress tolerance.
• Customer‑oriented with good verbal and written communication.

Required skills

• Scrub experience in general theatre procedures.
• Exposure to cardiac theatre practices (advantageous).
• Exposure to neuro theatre practices (advantageous).
