Executive – Legal Risk & Governance (Medical Aid Scheme)

About the role

This senior executive position leads the Legal, Risk and Governance division of a reputable medical aid scheme based in Pretoria. The role combines strategic oversight with hands‑on management of legal advisory, litigation, compliance and fraud prevention activities.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategic governance frameworks aligned with organisational objectives.
• Provide legal advice and oversee litigation management for the scheme.
• Lead compliance and risk management programmes, including monitoring and reporting.
• Manage fraud, waste and abuse detection and remediation initiatives.
• Design and deliver policy, training and stakeholder support programmes.
• Oversee day‑to‑day operational and management functions of the division.

Required profile

• Minimum Grade 12 qualification and an LLB degree; admission as an attorney is an advantage.
• Membership of the Compliance Institute of South Africa or a comparable body.
• A postgraduate qualification is preferred.
• At least 8 years of commercial experience, with a minimum of 5 years in a managerial capacity.
• Prior experience in the medical scheme industry is desirable.
