About the role

The Faculty of Engineering at the Potchefstroom Campus of a leading South African university is seeking an Executive Dean to provide visionary leadership. This senior academic position will shape the Faculty’s strategic direction, enhance its research profile, and strengthen industry collaborations.

Key responsibilities

• Define and implement the Faculty’s long‑term strategy aligned with university goals.
• Drive academic excellence across teaching, learning and research programmes.
• Increase research impact and secure external funding.
• Develop and nurture partnerships with industry, government and professional bodies.
• Represent the Faculty nationally and internationally as a thought leader in engineering education.

Required profile

• Doctoral degree in Engineering (NQF level 10).
• Professional registration with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA).
• Membership in relevant academic and professional networks.
• At least ten years of senior management experience.
• Demonstrated specialist experience in teaching, learning or research.
• Significant experience within higher education institutions.
