Event Coordinator

About the role

The Bay Hotel in Camps Bay is looking for an Event Coordinator to join its events and food & beverage team. Reporting to the Event Manager, you will help plan, sell, and execute a variety of events, banquets, and group bookings while ensuring high service standards.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with product development, budgeting, and achieving sales targets for events and groups.
• Act as the first point of contact in the Event Manager’s absence.
• Support food & beverage operations, including dining room setup and service levels.
• Coordinate reservations and special events with service, kitchen, and front‑office teams.
• Prepare reports, maintain records, and ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
• Manage relationships with external suppliers and internal departments.
• Provide booking support for hotel facilities and activities.
• Monitor industry trends and suggest improvements.
• Handle guest needs, complaints, and requests promptly.
• Schedule staff hours and assist with recruitment, training, and performance appraisals.

Required profile

• Grade 12 with a relevant events qualification.
• Diploma or degree in hospitality or project management is advantageous.
• 2–3 years’ experience in a similar hospitality or events role.
• Strong communication and organisational abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities with attention to detail.
• Collaborative leader with a guest‑centred service focus.
