ESL Teacher – Cape Town

About the role

EF Language Abroad’s Cape Town campus is seeking an enthusiastic ESL Teacher to deliver General English and Special Interest (SPIN) courses to a diverse international student body. You will use EF’s blended learning curriculum to create immersive, interactive lessons that help students develop confidence and fluency in English.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and deliver engaging English lessons for students of varying proficiency levels.
• Inspire a love of language through interactive, immersive classroom activities.
• Track attendance, assess progress and provide regular feedback to support each learner’s journey.
• Maintain a positive, inclusive classroom environment and manage student behaviour.
• Promote school spirit by encouraging participation in extracurricular activities and cultural events.
• Prioritise student safety and wellbeing by following EF’s safeguarding policies.
• Engage in continuous professional development and integrate innovative teaching methods and technology.

Required profile

• Full fluency in English (reading, writing, speaking).
• Minimum two years experience teaching ESL.
• Bachelor’s degree in English, Teaching or a related field.
• TEFL Level 5 and/or CELTA/DELTA certification (or equivalent).
• Experience with safeguarding and student welfare preferred.
• Full working rights in South Africa.
• Additional languages and experience living abroad are a plus.
